MANILA,
Oct. 22 (PNA) -- The city government of Marikina will hold a stress and
trauma management seminar billed “Bangon Marikina” on Oct. 23 at the
Marikina Convention Center for tropical storm Ondoy's victims.
Mayor
Marides Fernando said the seminar aims to offer psychological and
emotional relief to Marikina residents who were among the most badly
affected by the massive flooding induced by Ondoy. It will feature
lectures by pastors Eric Maliwat, Ed Lapiz, Gammy Alba, and Danny
Ibarolla, and trauma debriefing and individual counseling to be
facilitated by counselors from Day-by-Day Christian Ministries and 702
DZAS.
Expected
to participate are around 900 teachers from daycare centers and six
public schools in barangays Malanday, Concepcion Uno, and Nangka.
“Through
the seminar, we hope to help participants to jumpstart their healing
process following the stress created by the calamity, as well as
provide an impetus to embark on opportunities for rebuilding their
lives. We also wish they’d share their learning to their students who
are also coping in the aftermath of Ondoy," Fernando said.
“Bangon
Marikina” is organized by the Marikina Cultural, Tourism, Trade, and
Investment Promotions Office, in cooperation with the City Health
Office and the Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD-Marikina). (PNA)
